The James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., will celebrate all the children who participated in the summer learning program during the finale of the Scholastic Book Fair scheduled for August 5-6.
Kids who bring in their bingo sheet (available at any help desk) will receive a coupon for a free book at the library’s Scholastic Book Fair, as well as a sweet treat from Aaron’s Water Ice. Children who did not complete their reading log but still want to celebrate can purchase books and treats.
Children’s books will be in the programming rooms on the first floor and tweens/teens/young adult books will be in the Lowry Room on the third floor. There will be additional fun games and prizes throughout the event, like a trivia game and a scavenger hunt, so be sure to check it out!
Scholastic Book Fair hours are:
• 11:30 am to 8 pm Friday (First Friday for kids), August 5
• 9:30 am to 1:30 pm Saturday, August 6

• Free Mr. Music Family Show — 10:30 am and 1:30 pm on Friday.
• Aaron’s Water Ice: 11:30 am to 2 pm Friday and 9:30 am to 1:30 pm Saturday in the alley off Edwin Street.
• Andy Armadillo from Texas Roadhouse with free food coupons — 1 to 2 pm on Fridays.
• Free Celtic Wood and Wires Family Concert — 10:30 am to noon Saturday in the alley off Edwin Street.
• Family Show by Magician Brent Kessler — 11 to 11:45 am on Saturday.
• Performance by musician Izzy Butters of Uptown Music Collective: Saturday from noon to 1 pm in the alley on Edwin Street.
The library is the perfect place to cool off after Kids First Friday – families can check out a toy from our toy lending library or board game collection to take home for more fun on the weekend. Restrooms in the first floor kids’ area will be available to the public on Kids First Friday.
