The description of the Secret Invasion footage from San Diego Comic-Con shows the return of Samuel L. Jackson to the MCU as Nick Fury in the Disney+ series.

Samuel L. Jackson returns to lead the cast of secret invasion as Nick Fury alongside fellow MCU veterans Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross and Don Cheadle as Rhodey. The series will also mark the MCU debut of one night in miami‘s Kingsley Ben-Adir as the show’s undisclosed main villain, Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, and Carmen Ejogo. Interestingly, footage shown at SDCC revealed that Olivia Colman was playing an authority figure for Jackson’s character, leaving many wondering if The crown star is playing a Skrull or if he worked with SHIELD before his public dismantling in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Given Fury has been in space working with the Skrulls since the events of avengers endgamein which the world recovers from The Blip, either option seems possible for Colman’s character.
With the confirmation of the return of Cheadle’s War Machine for secret invasionIt will be interesting to see how big of a role he plays within the MCU series. The character was last seen in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier for one episode, for which he even earned a Primetime Emmy nomination, and given his work on armor wars Later down the road, one can expect Rhodey to spend more screen time with his fellow MCU veterans than has been seen of late. Only time will tell when secret invasion comes to Disney+ in spring 2023.
