BBC should face police investigation, says Diana’s brother

Princess Diana’s brother Charles Spencer, who was shown falsified bank statements by Martin Bashir that suggested her staff were betraying her and falsely told that Charles had gotten William and Harry’s nanny pregnant, has directly linked his famous BBC Panorama interview at his death. Spencer has also called for a police investigation into the BBC and Bashir, who he says was “set up” by him to gain access to his sister.

Police have previously said there was not enough evidence to open a criminal investigation into Bashir, but, writing in the mail on sundaySpencer urged them to reconsider.

His new intervention came days after the BBC apologized to Tiggy Legge-Bourke for “false and malicious” accusations made by Bashir to Spencer that she became pregnant by Prince carlos and had an abortion. She received around $240,000 in damages.

Spencer writes in the Sunday paper: “I feel like I was groomed…I was shown falsified bank statements; They told me about clandestine payments, espionage and hideous deception. But, the whole time I was the one who was tricked into getting Mr. Bashir to come to my late sister.”

He added that Diana was “extremely vulnerable” at the time because secret information was appearing in the press. He speculated that she may have been one of the first victims of the phone hacking.

He then directly linked the interview to his death.

He added: “The agonizing lies told to her by the BBC before their cameras finally rolled ensured that she came into that Panorama interview with a very skewed and false view of the situation she found herself in, having repeatedly lied to her.

“This led her to speak out in a way that put her on a course where she was without proper protection when she needed it most. All those responsible must be held accountable.”

I hope that the police will reconsider their responsibilities in this matter. Only they have the power to get to the bottom of this terrible scandal, which has left Diana feeling even more exposed and alone.

He added: “I hope that the police will reconsider their responsibilities in this matter. Only they have the power to get to the bottom of this terrible scandal, which left Diana feeling even more exposed and alone, and tricked her into giving up those who cared for her and would have protected her.”

Diana abandoned the UK police protection to which she was entitled in favor of her boyfriend Dodi Fayed’s private security team after the interview.

There is also coverage of the interview. in The times, which reports that Prince William is “frustrated” by the BBC’s refusal to completely disavow the interview. Although the BBC vowed not to re-show the interview in its entirety, he said there were still “short excerpts for journalistic purposes”. The times He said William is still feeling “a lot of pain and sorrow” from the scandal.

In a videotaped statement last year, William described his “indescribable sadness” that “the BBC’s failures contributed significantly to the fear, paranoia and isolation I remember from those last few years with her.”

the Mail he said the BBC had refused to comment on the Earl Spencer article, but did not say whether it had contacted police to comment on his appeal for a criminal investigation. The Daily Beast has reached out to Bashir’s representatives for comment.

earlier this weekformer royal nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke accepted a £200,000 ($238,000) damage payment from the BBC for “false and malicious claims” Bashir made to Diana that Prince Charles had been having an affair with her.

BBC Director General Tim Davie said in a statement: “I would like to take this opportunity to publicly apologize to her, the Prince of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Sussex, for the way Princess Diana was misled. and the subsequent impact on all of her lives. It is highly unfortunate that the BBC did not get to the facts immediately after the show when there were warning signs that the interview might have been obtained inappropriately.”

Meghan and Harry may be invited to Balmoral

Queen Elizabeth has reportedly invited Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children Archie and Lilibet to be guests at Balmoral this summer. But, the sun on sunday reportsif they do go, they are unlikely to see other royals.

The queen will stay for 10 weeks at the seven-bed Craigowan Lodge, the Sun said. A Balmoral source told the newspaper: “Staff have been told to expect the full list of royals, including Harry, Meghan and their children Archie and Lilibet. They’re getting ready for the Sussexes.

Another informant told the Sun:: “Balmoral is the perfect place to spend some quality time with the Queen. They barely had 15 minutes with her at the jubilee.”

But another source poured cold water on the olive branch that was reported to be on offer: “I’d be surprised if they turned up.”

like the daily beast reported on fridayThe full list of royal guests at Balmoral this summer is unknown, though the long stay means Harry, Meghan and their children could easily spend time there with the queen without crossing paths with, say, Prince William and Prince Charles, who relationships are still, ahem, icy.

Prince George is the mini-me of Prince William

When Prince George turned 9 on Friday, the world thought: He looks a lot like his dad, Prince William, at the same age. Mum Kate took the beautiful photo of George, during a recent family holiday in the UK, George in a light blue t-shirt, and then old photos of his father, like the one below, delighted with the visual comparison.

Kate Middleton’s sister, Pippa, has run a petting zoo and mini-safari in Bucklebury, the town where she grew up, for several years. But as always with Middleton entrepreneurs, plans are being hatched for bigger and better things. the mail on sunday, citing planning documents, says Pippa now plans to redevelop the 77-acre Bucklebury Farm Park, adding a café and overnight cabins. the Mail says, “The entire site will be adorned with twinkling lanterns.”

Of course he will!

Prince Charles steps in for mom

Prince Charles is standing in for his mother again, this time to open the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Tuesday next week. Few expected the queen to make the trip from Balmoral due to her recent health problems, but the announcement is yet another sign of the inevitability of changing times.

Who really got the big shot from ‘Newsnight’?

A new row has broken out over the disastrous Prince Andrew news night Interview with Emily Maitlis. BBC pundits are expressing anger over producer Sam McAlister’s book on the interview which they say glorifies his role at the expense of others who worked on the show.

the Telegraph quotes a BBC source as saying: “There is internal disappointment that there is not what is being done to expose how these journalistic practices are being tackled and also that many people who did a considerable amount of work on this show are being removed from it. process in pursuit of a person’s career. Former colleagues find it disappointing.”

However, the fact that these irritated comments only surfaced after McAlister landed a film deal for his book gives them high marks for the unmistakable smell of sour grapes.

And more about that (supposed) photo of Andy

The same Telegraph The article also discusses claims that a stills photographer working for news night captured a “shocking” photograph of Andrew that would embarrass him if it came to light. the Telegraph says the claim has been dismissed as “nonsense” by sources. The word one source used for monarchists was the fruitier Anglo-Saxon term, “bollocks”.

This week in true history

On July 29, 1981, Prince Charles and Princess Diana were married in St. Paul’s Cathedral, she in a billowing meringue of an Emanuel gown, the world engrossed in what they saw as a fairy tale. Subsequent events unfolded differently. On a more cheerful note, on July 30, 2011, Zara Phillips married Mike Tindall at Edinburgh’s Canongate Kirk, so happily 11the anniversary for them!

Questions without answer

Will Harry, Meghan and their family be heading to Scotland, and if they do, will they NOT do so at a time when they cross paths with someone else?
