- If your iPhone is not receiving text messages from Android phones, there are some quick ways to fix this problem.
- Be sure to turn Airplane mode on and off to troubleshoot your wireless connection.
- Make sure group messages and MMS are enabled and reset your network settings if necessary.
Ordinary SMS texting, which is what Android phones are based on, isn’t as sophisticated as iMessage, which iPhone users rely on. Still, you should generally be able to exchange text messages between iPhone and Android without a problem: iPhones can receive SMS messages just as easily as Androids. If you’re having trouble receiving text messages from Android devices on your iPhone, here are seven ways to fix the problem.
Toggle airplane mode
If you’re having trouble receiving SMS messages from Android users, remember that they can only reach you over your cellular network, not WiFi. Try turning the cellular radio off and back on to resolve any technical issues. Swipe down from the top right of the screen to see Control Center, then tap Airplane mode. Wait a few seconds, then tap it again to re-enable wireless networking.
Use Control Center to turn Airplane Mode on and off.

Make sure you’re not blocking the Android number
Is it possible that you have blocked the Android phone number? If so, that would explain why you’re not getting those text messages. This is how it is checked:
1. Start the Settings app and then touch Telephone.
two. tap on the blocked contacts.
3. Scroll through the list of blocked numbers (if any) and find the Android phone number. If you see it, swipe left on the number and tap Clear.
If you see a number that shouldn’t be blocked, swipe left and tap Unblock.

Make sure group messaging is enabled
While the ability to send and receive group messages between iPhones using iMessage is turned on by default, group texting using SMS may not be enabled for your iPhone. No problem though β you can enable it with a few taps.
1. Start the Settings app
two. Play Messages.
3. In the SMS/MMS section turn on MMS messaging sliding the button to the right.
Set up your iPhone to receive MMS messages
Similarly, if you’re having trouble receiving text messages from Android users with embedded photos or videos, MMS might be turned off. You can enable MMS in the same place as group messaging:
1. Start the Settings app
two. Play Messages.
3. In the SMS/MMS section turn on group messaging sliding the button to the right.
Make sure to enable group messaging for your iPhone.

Restart iPhone
If you’ve tried everything up to this point in the article and still can’t receive text messages from Android, you may want to restart your phone, if you haven’t already. This will fix temporary software and memory glitches on your iPhone. If you need a reminder, here’s how restart any iPhone.
Check for iOS updates
While relatively unlikely, an iOS update may fix your problem. See if there are any updates that need to be installed on your iPhone. beginning Settings on the iPhone, then tap General. Play Software update and install any updates.
Reset your network settings
If you’ve tried everything else on this list and still can’t receive text messages from Android phones, it might be time to reset your iPhone network settings. Remember that this troubleshooting step will erase all your network settings, including saved WiFi network passwords and paired Bluetooth devices. However, this could cause your iPhone to start communicating with Android devices:
1. Start the Settings app and touch General.
two. Play Transfer or reset iPhone.
3. Play Restart.
Four. In the pop-up menu, tap Reset network settings and confirm that this is what you want to do.
