Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, the next DCEU movie, will be a new beginning for the franchise, and that’s not good news for the Snyderverse.

While the DCEU originally started out as a continuation of Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder. Currently, the canon of the DCEU after that of Zack Snyder League of Justice is still up in the air, but upcoming movies like black adam suggest that the franchise is distancing itself from the SnyderVerse.

While there is no DCEU movie after League of Justice As long as there are technical reboots regarding what had been established in the Snyderverse, they also haven’t followed any major storylines from Snyder’s original five-movie plan. In fact, after more than five years since Henry Cavill shot the last scenes of him, a Superman for League of Justice, black adam became the public’s main hope of seeing the return of the DCEU Superman. Shazam had teased this possibility with a Superman cameo at the end, except Superman’s face was never shown. At the moment, it is not confirmed if Henry Cavill’s Superman will appear in black adam. In fact, Dwayne Johnson revealed during SDCC that the result of a Fight between Black Adam and Superman depends on “Who’s Playing Superman”.


The lack of an official announcement about the return of Henry Cavill as Superman in black adam or any other DC project will probably be seen as disappointing. Still, this suggests that the future of the DCEU is not yet set in stone. The Snyderverse clearly doesn’t continue, at least not with the originally planned Zack Snyder movies, but there are elements of the League of Justice saga that could still play a role in the DCEU depending on what future movies might need. In a way, Black Adam may be to the next few years of the DCEU what Iron Man it was for the early years of the franchise.
