the iPhone SE (2022) The tiny 4.7-inch screen must be pretty bad for playing games like immortal devil, Correct? After all, the game screen is busy most of the time, and when the stakes are high, everything seems pretty small, even on a big-screen phone like the Asus ROG Phone 6.
Is Apple’s new smaller, cheaper iPhone too compromised to really enjoy games like immortal devil?
what’s inside counts
The iPhone SE isn’t the first phone you think of if you plan on playing a lot of games, but at $429, it’s very tempting if you’re looking for a cheap way to own an Apple phone (or aren’t interested). on very large phones). The spec doesn’t make any decision that much easier, as this is a really powerful device.

The iPhone SE (2022) uses Apple’s A15 Bionic processor, which packs a lot of punch and is also found within the company’s top iPhone 13 models. It is easily capable of running the latest and hardest games like immortal devil. That bodes well for the iPhone SE (2022) to play games, right? It does, but it will do so on a 4.7-inch screen, which is mini by modern standards, and holding a phone with royal bezels on both sides of the screen.
The size of the screen means that it has a modest resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels, which equates to a density of 326 pixels per inch (PPI), much lower than the roughly 460 PPI of a iPhone 13 Pro. While it comes with Apple’s True Tone technology, it’s an LCD panel (Apple calls it a Retina HD display) and not a Super Retina XDR OLED panel like the iPhone 13 Pro models.
With its superior processor, small LCD screen, and large bezels, the iPhone SE (2022) is a mix of old-school and cutting-edge mobile gaming. How would it affect our enjoyment of immortal devil?
A great little phone for Diablo Immortal
Yes, the screen is small. It’s not quite “get out your little magnifying glass,” but it’s not too far from it, and my nearsighted eyes didn’t enjoy looking at it from a distance. Other than that though, I was surprised at how quickly I got used to gaming on the 4.7-inch screen. And that’s after I’ve gotten used to gaming on my recent assortment of everyday phones, from the ROG Phone 6 Pro to the iPhone 13 Pro. Even the asus zenfone 9a compact Android phone, it is larger than the iPhone SE.

What helps is the A15 Bionic’s surprisingly high level of sharpness, 60fps support and incredible performance and resulting smooth gameplay. There is nothing fatiguing in immortal devil on the iPhone SE at all. It works so beautifully with no hesitation or obvious frame rate drops, that you will never be prevented from playing due to glitches. You quickly forget about the size of the screen. Just remember to minimize the mission information and chat window to make the most of the available space.
What about those bezels? There’s a reason some mobile gamers don’t like bezel-less screens or curved chassis on phones, and that’s because there’s no obvious place to grip the phone without obscuring at least part of the screen. The iPhone SE’s retro design means there’s a lot of bezel on either side of the screen and it’s perfect for gripping. It’s another factor that makes the screen feel unrestrictive, as you don’t cover much of it with your hands, unlike a full bezel-less screen.
The shape of the phone, with its curved chassis and glass, makes it very comfortable to hold for long periods of time in landscape orientation. And since it only weighs 144 grams, it never gets obtrusive. It is a very different in-hand experience than iPhone 13 Pro square and flat sides. I’ve never accidentally pressed the Touch ID sensor, but remember to disable silent mode with the side switch if you want to hear what’s going on in-game.
What’s holding back the iPhone SE
immortal devil it plays at 60fps and with all graphics settings set to High. Although there is an on-screen warning about heat buildup when you select 60fps, the phone only stayed warm even after an hour of gaming. The A15 Bionic gives the game a wonderful fluidity that is not always present in all Android phones, even with high-performance chips inside. Get over the screen size and gaming on the iPhone SE (2022) is basically the same as gaming on an iPhone 13 Pro Max, for a third of the financial outlay.

The only big downside to this performance is the demands placed on the battery. The iPhone SE (2022) is not a large smartphone and the internal battery does not have the capacity of the internal cells of the iPhone 13 Pro or Pro Max. It really starts to show when you push hard on the phone with a game like immortal devilparticularly when you select 60fps.
During my longest gaming sessions of about an hour, running it at 60fps, a 25% drop in battery life was common, but expect this to wear off in under 30 minutes during some of the fiercer battles where they’re many things happening. If you play games for more than an hour in a day, don’t expect your phone’s battery to keep up if you’re also using a cellular connection, the camera, and other apps. The iPhone SE (2022) doesn’t like to be pushed that hard, and will return it to the charger before the end of the night.
It’s not the screen, it’s the battery.
Initially, I expected the iPhone SE (2022) to impress technically, but was disappointed in terms of the visual and ergonomic experience. Having been spoiled by big-screen phones with touted flagship processors, I didn’t expect the little iPhone SE to not only compete, but somehow provide a better gaming experience than larger phones that cost twice as much.
Better? Yes, the ergonomic shape and low weight mean you can play for hours without the phone becoming clunky or awkward to hold. It also doesn’t get hot, even during some of the most challenging Diablo Immortal battles, and even the ROG Phone 6: with all its cooling technology β gets seriously hot under load. The iPhone SE (2022) just shrugged off the pressure of the game.
Unfortunately, the battery doesn’t shrug off the strain. It is the weakest link in the iPhone SE. You can easily remove 50% of the battery in the morning, and that doesn’t leave much to do other things for long. Turns out the iPhone SE (2022) screen, once you get used to it, is fine for immortal deviland the power of the processor encourages you to play much. But the battery just doesn’t have the guts to hold out for more than a few hours.
